How Do I Forward Gmail Nicknames To My Gmail Inbox?

To add a nickname to your Google Account:

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Click Edit next to "Email addresses" on the My Account page.
  3. Enter a new nickname, or delete your current nickname if you don't want one at all.
  4. Click Save.

There is an issue with Gmail that it will only forward your nicknames to your All Mail folder and not your Inbox. To resolve this issue, you first need to create some filters:

  1. Go into the Mail Settings area of your account.
  2. Click on Filters
  3. Click on Create a filter.
  4. Enter the nickname that you created with your domain name after it (i.e. the full email address) in the To: field.
  5. Check the Apply the Label: checkbox and select Priortiy from the drop down list.
  6. If you'd like to apply this filter to messages already in Gmail, select the Also apply filter to x conversations below checkbox.
  7. Click Create Filter.

Now that the filter is setup, you need to enable the Priority Inbox and set it up to include the Priority labeled messages from your nickname(s)

  1. Go into the Mail Settings area of your account.
  2. Click on Inbox tab.
  3. Change your Inbox type: to Priority Inbox.
  4. Under Inbox Sections: click the drop down and select More Options.
  5. Click on the Priority label.
  6. Click on Save Changes

You can tweak the number of messages to be displayed in each section.
